31-year old Kenny Goertzen has been identified as the victim in a deadly tragedy in Niagara Falls on Wednesday. He died after being run over by a dump truck. Goertzen was walking on the sidewalk when it happened. Tonight, his friends say they can’t believe he died in such a fluke accident. Kenny Goertzen’s friends say he was a guy who loved to have fun.“Kenny was a genuine guy, always had a smile on his face.” Kris Collver and Kenny shared a love of heavy metal music. Collver says he couldn’t believe it when they learned Kenny was the man run over by the dump truck on Drummond Roadin Niagara Falls. “We were just all in shock…never thought it would be somebody you know.”It was about three in the afternoon, police say Kenny was walking southbound on the sidewalk when he was run over by a dump truck that had just pulled out of a work site. He was killed instantly. Friends say, Kenny was on his way home from work, just steps away from his apartment building when he was struck by the dump truck. Kenny was a local musician, he was the lead singer in his own band. He grew up in Niagara-on-the-Lake. He was a cook for a restaurant in the Niagara Parks, and he was a huge leafs fan. A makeshift memorial has been set up at the site where he was killed. One person called Kenny a great friend. An amazing guy, with a beautiful heart, who will be missed.
